There's Only 1 You - Instructional Coaching Matters

Teacher coaching as a form of job-embedded professional development has increased dramatically over the last 15-20 years as schools and districts see the benefit that having an instructional coach can have on the effectiveness of the teaching staff.  School coaches perform in various capacities within the school.  During the 2015-2016 school year, 27% of public schools had a reading coach, 18% employed a math coach and 24% had an instructional coach who provided general coaching support to their campus teachers. Having high quality coaches in place along with strong teacher support and buy in were factors that made a difference in the effectiveness of the coaching programs in place at various schools.
